I know I will be getting NO sleep due to the storms that are suppose to come around well lets just say MIDNIGHT!! I am such a light sleeper so I might as well not even go to bed! I wanted to share something that came in the mail for me this week! It is from the FABULOUS Hadar!
Isn't that soo cute?? She made it and she sells them! Go over and check out her shop! I definitely think we could stop teaching and make lots of bucks doing crafts all day long! :)
Since I will be up most of the night I thought I would catch up on some reading and toe painting! I got my copy of the CAFE book in the mail. We finally get to do the Daily 5 and the CAFE at my school. I have already read the Daily 5, but I will be working on the CAFE. If you have any types for me on either please share!
As for my toes I got a new Essie color called Turquoise and Caicos! It is going to look great on my toes!
It is perfect for the spring! I hope everyone has a great Saturday night!!

We started Daily 5/CAFE at our school two years ago. My advice to you is not be afraid to go rouge from the program. I use both of these models in my classroom and modify them to meet the needs of my students. I got so caught up in trying to do it "right" that I forgot about what my ultimate goal was, to teach my kids. But I LOVE Daily 5. My kiddos have had it in both first and now second grades and I can tell a HUGE difference in their reading stamina!

Hi Kelley:
I immediately thought of you when I was watching the Weather News (I think you are the only person I "know" in the state of Kansas!).
I am wishing you a safe, uneventful (and quick) evening and a wonderful tomorrow!

I agree with Casey. I applied the DAILY 5 and CAFE into my classroom this year and actually gave a presentation on it at our school especially talking about the Stamina. (I was the only one putting it into practice in the classroom) I LOVE it. The DAILY 5 is fabulous. Next year, I need to do more of the CAFE and dive deeper. My suggestion is take it slow and be consistent with the Stamina piece. The first time my students read, it was for 15 seconds before something happened. It took about a month to get to 20 minutes. :-) Doing this will also help your other DAILY 5 areas. On another note, I am from Kansas too and we had Prom last night. I teach in Wichita but I live in a small town outside of Wichita. We were shuffling kids here and there. It worked out and they had their Prom but probably not the best one they could have had. Thanks for your blog. Love reading it.
That's super exciting that you get to start using Daily 5! If you have time, check out my Pinterest board for Daily 5:) http://pinterest.com/karliea/anchor-charts-for-daily-5/
