Fairy Tales

We finally finished our fairy tales! We went through the entire writing process! It took us almost two weeks, but they turned out really good!
I also created writing folders for each of my students during the summer! They have cute reminders they can use when they are writing. The folders also come in handy when we take tests, as dividers!

Verbs, Verbs, and more Verbs!

This week I will be introducing action verbs. My students finally understand nouns thanks to Mrs. Lemon's http://stepintosecondgrade.blogspot.com/ noun activities she shared on her blog. The first activity I am going to use is very interactive. The students will be playing charades! I will have one student at a time pull out a card and act it out for their classmates. They will have to guess what action verb they are acting out.
During guided reading my students will be playing a categorizing game I created with the same concept as Mrs. Lemon's noun game, but with nouns and verbs. The students will have to know the difference between a noun and a verb.
I also created a sheet that my students will be documenting the number of action verbs they use in a day. I am still not sure how to share documents, so I just took a picture of it. (if anyone knows how please let me know!)This will help my student realize we use verbs all the time!
Target: I had to share something VERY exciting, Target has their fall items in the dollar section! I looove picking up items for my classroom! Here is what I got so far!
I have a very busy week: Monday: master class, Tuesday: Family Fun Night at school, The Rest of the Week: Online Class Homework! and of course teaching my kiddos! I am hopefully going to find time to enjoy the nice weather! I hope everyone has a super start to their week!

Conferences

Wow, this week went by so fast! We had parent teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. Here are a few things I made for conferences:

I like to create bags for math and reading to give to parents at conferences. Some of my parents love to work with their child, so I like to include fun games for them to do together!

I also have my students write a letter to their parents. They can write anything they want. When the parents read them, they usually tear up. My students also reflect on the semester and write 3 things they have done well and 3 things they want to improve upon. I share what they wrote during their conference.

Next Week: I will be starting to introduce and review money. I have made these fun cards to work on creating different amounts of money with a specific amount of coins. I am off today (Friday), so I am going to go enjoy spending time with my family!

Starting a New Adventure

Hey everyone! I am new to the blogging world. I kept finding amazing blogs, which inspired me to start my own. I am still learning how to use everything, but I hope some of you find my ideas useful.
