Fashion Friday: Colored Pants/Denim

So my latest fashion obsession is colored pants... actually I started getting into them last year around this time so I guess I was a little ahead of the trend. My first pair of colored pants were this great mint green, which look almost white in the picture I am going to show you. When I told my bff about them she was like MINT pants!?!? Now just the other day she was like did you see on Pinterest all the MINT pants!! (hehe) Today I wanted to share with you some of the different colors of pants and denim that is out there and have a list of what colors or  prints go good with each!!

I hope this helps with the new colored pants trend. I can't wait to wear some of these pants into winter with boots....if it snows this year! I really think they will help brighten up those cold wintery days! Today I am off to my....basement! I will be working on stuff for my room, I am counting down the days until we can get into our rooms and work for just ONE day before we go back! I know I am going to be busting my you know what that next week to get everything done before the kids come back on the 15th and in between professional development that we have.
Happy Friday!

Fashion Friday Find

So I know all of you have seen the bubble necklaces that JCrew has all over the internet and pinterest. I looove these necklaces, but when I went into the store to check them out and I wasn't going to pay the 150 dollar price tag. I knew I could find them somewhere else cheaper and just as cute. I was looking around one day on Pink Peonies blog and found this cute little shop that sells them for only 49 dollars!!! (Ily Couture)

Click here to check out Ily Couture! Click below if you would like to check out Pink Peonies. I love her blog and read it daily!

So of course I ordered two necklaces.....the yellow one and the blue one. Here is a picture of the yellow one! I can't wait to wear it when I get back to school and to Hawaii! (two weeks!!)

Oh and P.S. Kristin's blog is one year old!! She is having a HUGE giveaway and of course I am involved! Go check it out!! I am still working on the rest of the CAFE strategies posters. I am going to work on them right now and will have them up later today or for sure tomorrow! Happy Friday!

I'm Back....Fashion Friday!

Hello everyone!! I am back! We had some unexpected things happen while we were in Minnesota, which caused us to come home early. It has caused a little stress, which is why I haven't been blogging. I am super excited to be back though!! I have missed all my AMAZING friends!

Today for my Fashion Friday post I wanted to share different ways to wear a skinny belt. I loove skinny belts and have them in lots of different colors. The one I am going to use today is a neutral one with a bow and it is from J Crew.

This a simple way to wear it at your natural waistline with a blouse.

In this picture I kept the belt the same as before, but added a blazer on top of the blouse.

This is the belt on the outside of the blazer with the same blouse underneath.

This is how I wear my belts a lot, over a longer sweater. It can accentuation your waist!

This is a belt made out of ribbon. I love the girly touch it puts on this outfit!!

I also wanted to share two pairs of shoes I got on my trip! Since we had to leave early we didn't get to shop as much as we would have liked. Oh well, you know I will make up for it here at home!! ;)

I am excited to wear these shoes to school in the fall!! I can't believe June is almost over!! I can't wait because I will be done with my masters classes but that just means schools is going to start soon!! I will leave you with a picture from our trip!! Happy Friday!

Fashion Saturday!

It is crazy that I haven't posted anything school related. I am working slowing on a few things like  painting a new chair for my author's celebrations and book bags for Daily 5. I am still doing homework for my masters classes about 5 hours a day. I will be done July 7th, then I will be switching into full on school gear!

My fashion Friday  Saturday post I wanted to share with you some staples of back to school  teaching shopping. These are some items that I rely on year after year and I always make it a priority to buy new either every year or every couple of years. I am going to start from the bottom and go up!

I think a pair of neutral and black flats are a must!! As you can see the black ones are new and the neutral ones have been worn A LOT!! The black ones are from Marshals and the neutral ones are from DSW (Steven Madden).

I always have to have a pair of black trouser pants, khakis (sp?), and white something! This is a white skirt from Loft, but I also love my white pants from J Crew. The black pants are from Gap! They have my favorite pair of slacks, called The Perfect Trousers. I think I have them in every color.

Here is where I like to bring in my color....bright blouses! I usually wear color in my tops, shoes, and accessories. The orange blouse is from Kohls on clearance and the pink one is from Loft. These blouses look great under a jacket in the fall and winter or just by themselves with a great belt in the spring and summer.

This picture didn't turn out really good, but there is a grey detailed cardigan behind the jacket. I looove this black blazer because it isn't fitted at all. It is a great piece to just throw on if it is going to be chilly outside or the superintendent is coming to observe that day! ;) (H & M)

I also love little skinny belts. This is another spot I like to add color. The green one is from Talbots, orange is from Loft, and the neutral bow one is from J Crew. I am thinking one of my next posts will be about how to wear belts. There are so many cool ways to wear a belt and look sophisticated.

Last but not least some gold jewelry can pull everything together. These pieces I can wear with anything, which is something important to remember if you are on a tight budget. The necklace on the left is from Loft, middle from Hot Mamas, and bracelet is from Ann Taylor Outlet.

These are some great starter pieces for teachers who are just starting off or looking to clean up your wardrobe this year. I do have to share that I am a bargain and sale shopper. I don't buy anything full price unless I am in love with it and can't put it down. I love to find great sales! One of my favorite places for sales is Ann Taylor Loft. They have great clothes for teachers and they give teachers a discount! (I am thinking I need to make a teacher discount list for my sweet bloggers too!)

Next week I will be in MN at Ikea and Mall of America!! I won't be making a fashion post until early the following week.  I can't wait to show you all the great things I find!! Happy shopping!

Fashion Friday and CLAL!

I haven't posted about fashion on Friday for a while!! It seems like every Friday has been so crazy lately! I went shopping with my mom on Tuesday at our outlet mall, which is not too far from my house. I picked up some great summer items that can be wore together or separate.

This outfit has a nautical theme to it. The two tops are from J Crew outlet. The big white necklace is from Ann Taylor outlet. The small bubble bee one is also from J Crew. I think it is going to look perfect with some of my summer dresses!

This outfit has two of my favorite items that I bought in it! First the fabulous orange pants are from Ann Taylor outlet. The came in EVERY color and they are actually pretty dress so I will be wearing them to work. The top is from J Crew...they have these tops in every color and pattern you can imagine! Here is a picture of how the jewelry is working with this outfit:

I like that the buttons match the necklace, it ties the look together. I am super duper excited because in two weeks myself and my bff will be going to the shopping mecca of America, aka MALL of AMERICA! I have to say I have never been there but I am sooo pumped!

I also wanted to share some more Camp Learned A Lot photos! These are from our party!

Last but not least my GREAT hubby will be putting together my new rolling white board tonight! I am very excited!! I will take pictures when it is all done! Happy TGIF!!!

The 3 F's

FASHION, FIELD TRIP, AND FINALLY!!! My hubby got home from being gone all week so I didn't get the chance to post my Fridays Fashion post, but here it is. This week I wanted to show you how to wear statement jewelry. Instead of showing you completed outfits I decided to just show you what colors work with different types of jewelry.
Lime green jewelry like this bracelet looks great with neutral and pale colors. I paired it with a soft pink and some lace. The lime green really stands out when it is paired with these colors.
This multicolored bracelet looks great with many different colors. When I am working with a piece of jewelry that has lots of colors in it I try to pair it with something of a totally different color. For example I paired this bracelet with navy blue.
Both of these necklaces are quite chunky, but are still very neutral. The colors aren't bright at all. I found that they stand out the most when I paired them with a fun print. They are the prefect accent for my bright safari blouse and navy key dress!
Last but not least is this GREAT peach chunky necklace. This is one of my favorite pieces. I paired it with an eyelet dress. It allows the necklace to be the center of attention. My biggest piece of advice with statement jewelry is to try new things. You never know if a necklace or bracelet will look good with something until you try it out! On to our amazing, but tiring Field Trip on Friday! We look the second graders to Science City in downtown Kansas City! We had a blast. I wanted to share with you something the kids got to make! It was a "soil" treat. They first put in white chocolate chips for the bottom layer of soil, then chocolate pudding for the subsoil, then crushed up Oreo s for the topsoil. They then "planted" a gummy carrot in their soil! They kids LOVED these! I think I am going to steal the idea for my classroom next year!
On to the FINALLY! I am FINALLY done with my Spring masters classes! I turned in my last assignment today! I won't start my summer classes until the end of May. To celebrate I will be posting a freebie sometime this week! Be on the look out for it! I hope everyone has a FABULOUS weekend! (I guess I should have called it the 4 F's!) Glitter Words
